The Girls

So this is for those of you who are wondering about my little nieces. They turned 5 weeks old today. It's funny to think they are that old when they should technically still be in the womb for another month or so.

Here is Avery, the oldest:
She is now 4 lbs. 1.7 oz.

This is Addy (Addison):
She is now 4 lbs. 5.1 oz. She is known as Addy McFatty. She is the one who was struggling the most at the beginning because she was born after the placenta and breach.

Both were on CPAP for a while and were eventually weened and as you can see, they now breathe on their own! We attribute all their progress to the prayers and love sent their way by family and friends. Thank you!

They are now big enough and healthy enough to room together:
Avery is on the left (with the dark hair) and Addy is sucking on her beloved purple paci.

They sleep a lot, ha ha.
Avery has recently had some trouble with regulating her temperature so she is in her own isolette for a day or two.

Both girls have reflux and also take turns attacking the nurses with projectile poo. Avery is very laid back and easy going and Addy shows every sign of being a diva. It's so clear that these little people come into this world with their very own individual personalities.

They continue to thrive, with just a few hiccups here and there. Continued prayers on their behalf are appreciated. There is a slight chance they will be able to go home for Christmas but it's more likely they'll make that trip in January.

Thanks again to everyone who's had these little girls in their thoughts and prayers. Miracles do happen!

Aw, they never let my boys share a room! It was so annoying. And we always called Joshua our "only child" because he was so demanding, but once we got figured out he was milk/soy intolerant and got him on the right kind of formula, he became MUCH more laid back than Caleb. You can't overrate how discomfort affects the personality at first...

Anyways, the girls are absolutely adorable.

Thanks for the update I think of these two often. The NICU nurses and drs are the best! I hope they get to come home for Christmas that would be such a great treat!
